
Team Make Ogbunike Great (TMOG) has called on the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, to bring an end to the flooding and erosion problems in Ogbunike, in Oyi Local Government Area.
The residents, who narrated their ordeal to TMOG media, said property lost to the recent wave of rainfall amounted to millions of naira. And the victims are faced with deadly health hazards.
They said accessing their homes during rainfall had become a nightmare and called on the relevant agencies of government to devise urgent solutions to their plight. Many people have been displaced, homes abandoned since the last devastating rainfall.
The flood victims in Ogbunike, informed the Leader of Team Make Ogbunike Great (TMOG) Dr Harris Chuma-Odili that the recent flood damaged their properties worth millions of naira. A little child almost got drowned in the flood.
Lately, it was gathered that some deep spirited indigenes have started donating some monies to the Town Union, to assist the flood victims rebuild their homes.
According to Dr Harris Chuma-Odili, “The flood is excessive; it flows into many houses during rainfalls. The last one condemned people’s properties worth millions of naira. We are appealing to the government to come to our aid. We want the state government ably led by Prof Chukwuma Soludo to address the root cause of the flooding, tackle the erosion menace and fix the dilapidated roads. Many roads are collasping in Ogbunike due to flooding, and consequently, posing a threat to commuters”.
A homeowner in Umueri Ogbunike blamed the shallow road construction job in the area for the flood. TMOG is calling on the state government to urgently address the flood and erosion menace in Ogbunike. The situation is life threatening and should be given urgent attention before it is too late.
