Stay Away From Bribery, Corruption, IGP Tells Officers

Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police (IGP), has charged officers of the Nigeria Police Force to shun all corrupt tendencies to have an acceptable image in the eyes of the public.

Mr Egbetokun gave the charge at the weekend in Akure, Ondo State capital, while decorating the newly promoted officers of the NPF from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

Akelicious reports that a total of 224 officers in the Ondo Police Command were promoted and decorated.

Speaking through the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Ebong Ebong, Zone 17 comprising Ondo and Ekiti states, Mr Egbetokun said the Nigeria police officers needed to redeem the image of the force by rejecting any indecent advances made to them by unpatriotic citizens.

He noted that the police had always been one of the finest jobs among other security agents in the world, saying police officers needed to be seen as above bribery or corruption.

While tasking the newly promoted officers to do their best to justify their new ranks, Mr Egbetokun noted that promotion in the Nigeria Police Force had always been based on merit and performance.

He further advised the police officers to be alive to their responsibilities and be professional in their duties, noting that the pride of being an officer of the law must be maintained.

Taiwo Jesubiyi, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, tasked the newly decorated and promoted officers to work hard and justify their new ranks as they carried out their responsibilities.
