Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has urgently summoned the State Executive Council for a meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the capital city.
The meeting was specifically called in response to the defection of 27 out of the 32 members of the House of Assembly from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposing All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers made the move public during a session, and afterward, they proudly displayed the APC flags in a group photograph.
The ongoing dispute over the party’s structure in the state has caused tension between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
