The Chairman of Senate Committee on NGOs and Diaspora, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh OFR, and Member representing Awka North and South Federal Contituency in House of Representatives, Hon Prof. Lilian Orogbu have inaugurated the Ikenga Hall built by High Chief (Dr ) Christopher Ndubuisi (Ikenga Umuawulu) for the Umuawulu Progressive Union in Abuja. The inauguration of the multi- Million naira hall took place at the Union’s End of Year Celebration.
In his speech at the event, Senator Umeh who is also the Dikeomeluora na Umuawulu, praised the benevolence of High-Chief Christopher Ndubuisi for providing a befitting town hall for the community in Abuja. He also congratulated the Abuja branch of the Umuawulu Progressive Union for a successful year and encouraged them to continue to be good citizens in their community.
Senator Umeh further emphasized his commitment to the Umuawulu community, citing his relationship with the community including the traditional ruler ,HRH Igwe Joel Egwuonwu(Ezeudo 1 of Umuawulu) adding that he would continue to feature the community favourably in his activities in the Senate.
Other stakeholders in the Umuawulu Progressive Union, including High Chief Christopher Ndubuisi, expressed their gratitude to Senator Victor Umeh and Representative of Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Prof. Lilian Oby Orogbu, for their commitment to pro-people representation. They acknowledged the continued support and collaboration of the Umuawulu community.
In addition to the inauguration of the Ikenga Hall, the event featured the presentation of awards to outstanding Umuawulu indigenes, as well as the distribution of Christmas palliatives to members of the community, courtesy of High Chief (Dr) Christopher Ndubuisi.
Senator Victor Umeh urged the Umuawulu community to shun flamboyant and ostentatious lifestyles that may put them in the wrong spotlight, while continuing to strive for prosperity and success in their various legitimate endeavors.
