Sons and Daughters of Omor Community, friends, well-wishers, and people from all walks of life converged on the palace of His Royal Highness, Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume, Eze Ana-Ukwu Igulube of Omor kingdom in celebration of the 2023 Ofala Festival.
The ofala was a complete display of the cultural history, heritage, and traditional attires of the Omor Community, showcasing their rich culture.
In his Ofala address, the respected traditional ruler thanked God for the gift of life and wealth of his people. He also called on the state government to look into the roads connecting to Omor to ensure that the community is not cut off from the rest of Ndi Anambra.
Speaking further, he thanked Anambra State Government for his gift of free quality education in the state, employment of 8,000 teachers so far to ensure the best teachers teach in Anambra Schools. He noted that Omor under his care will prioritize education and ensure that no Omor child must be seen on the road during school hours.
According to the traditional ruler, the community has witnessed numerous developments under his watch attributing it to the peace and harmony existing in the community.
Also Anambra State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr Don Onyenji while addressing the press express his joy at the turn out of Ndi Omor to celebrate their culture. He noted further that it shows that there is absolute peace in the state and commend Ndi Anambra to go about celebrating during yuletide as Governor Soludo is God’s prayer answered to Ndi Anambra.
Among the cultural activities during this year’s ofala festival include Ogbagidi Omor, Igwe Majestic Outing, and ofala address Conferment of traditional titles to deserving personalities. Other cultural displays include native dance groups of different kinds and live band performances.
The ofala witnessed the presence of traditional rulers from different communities in the state led by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, CFR, the Obi of Onitsha Ancient kingdom and other traditional rulers from far and wide.
The dignitaries, Former Chief Judge Anambra State, Hon. Justice Obidigwe, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze , the deputy speaker, Rt Hon. Pius Chukwuma Okoye, Member Representing Ayamelum Constituency, Hon Chris Udemezue (Isi Enyi), Member Representing Anambra West Hon. Sir Patrick Obalim Udoba Ezego Anam, State Chairman of APGA High Chief Barr Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, the youth leader of APGA Comr. Tochukwu Obiadi.

As part of the activities slated for the commemoration of this year’s ofala of His Royal Highness Igwe ORAUNO CHRIS CHIDUME MON, EZE ANA_UKWU IGULUBE OF OMOR KINGDOM, the events continue to attract the presence of dignitaries from all walks of life.
The second day of the ofala has a lot of events and activities in Stock for all and sundry, ranging from display of different Masquerades, such as the ijele masquerade and the dreaded Ajo Ofia Nnewi among others.
Ozor Title taking to deserving members of the community who have distinguished themselves in different spheres of life, as well as match-past by different primary and secondary schools in Omor.
It was also another opportunity for different individuals and groups to pay homage to the respected traditional ruler.
While speaking to the members of the press, the governor represented by the Chief of Staff Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi commended Igwe Chris Oranu, Eze Ana-Ukwu, and Igulube of Omor kingdom for being a traditional ruler who is determined to ensure peace and promote community development as well as an employer of labor, he also assured the people of Omor of his continuous support and commitment in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the region
It was indeed another opportunity to witness the sights and sounds of Omor cultural heritage and traditional attires geared towards fostering peace and Igbo cultural heritage and values.
