President Bola Tinubu and Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State are currently engaged in a private meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
Also present at the meeting are former governor Sir Peter Odili and other important figures from the state.
It appears that the President is intervening in the ongoing conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Earlier, Wike was observed visiting the State House.
Sources within the presidency have confirmed that this meeting is likely related to recent events in the state, where 27 out of 32 members of the State House of Assembly affiliated with the FCT Minister have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Before the meeting began in earnest, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima was seen in attendance.
