An ominous cloud is hovering over Nasarawa state as trepidation and unrest grips the state over the ruling of the Supreme Court on the state gubernatorial election.

Akelicious had earlier reported that the apex court upheld the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The apex court on Friday set aside the sack of Governor Sule, affirming him as the duly elected governor of the state.

However, the judgment has sparked crisis and chaos in the state as some residents who are dissatisfied with the development took to the street to express their displeasure.

Some residents of the state, particularly supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, blocked major roads in protest against the Supreme Court’s decision.

The ever-busy Lafia-Jos Road has been completely blocked as the protesters burn tires in front of the state secretariat of the party, thus barricading the road and bringing commercial and vehicular activities to a halt.

The demonstration has forced motorists to use alternative routes within Lafia, the state capital.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ramhan Nansel, dismissed reports of unrest, saying “Lafia is fine, no issues”.
