At least two persons were killed on Sunday when suspected rampaging Boko Haram terrorists attacked Kukareta village along Maiduguri Road in Damaturu LGA of Yobe State.Three other persons who were in the town to hunt for grasshoppers were also abducted by the attackers.
Those killed in the attack which happened on Sunday afternoon are construction workers.
The assailants reportedly shot sporadically for about one hour during the attack.
The district head of the town, Alhaji Lawan Babagana confirmed the attack to newsmen.
He disclosed that those killed and those kidnapped during the attack were his guests.
He added that the terrorists razed his house and 504 Peugeot car
“They stormed the town around 3 am on Sunday shooting sporadically, they set my house on fire, razed my 504 Peugeot car, and also destroyed one house in the town.
“There were five people in my house who I was hosting; two of them were construction workers brought by the Northeast Development Commission from Adamawa, for the construction of Kukareta Market.
“As you know, as a traditional ruler, I used to host people that come to my domain. These boys (Boko Haram fighters) brought these (workers) out of my house and shot them instantly.
“There are three grasshopper hunters, who I was hosting in my house. They (terrorists) handcuffed, and kidnapped the hunters in the vehicle of vigilantes, which was parked at my house.
“The police operatives have evacuated the remains of the construction workers and taken them to a specialist hospital in Damaturu,” he added
