The Federal Government has been urged to guarantee the complete implementation of the 2024 education budget by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS.

In a statement addressing reporters on Tuesday in Lagos, Mr. Akinteye Afeez, the President of the NANS Senate, offered the counsel.

According to him, all of the expenses must be covered by the finances, and moving ahead, there should be no tolerance for any kind of careless diversion.

In addition to the sector’s failure to fulfil the worldwide funding criteria, he said that insufficient oversight and poor implementation were contributing factors to the industry’s ongoing defeats.

“Having gone through the breakdown of the budget for the sector for the 2024 fiscal year, we have come to realise that a total of 8.8 per cent has been allocated to education.

“While this amount is still low compared to the immediate needs of the student community, it is also important we appreciate the Federal Government for the inclusion of the student loan, which we believe, will help our students greatly, in catering for their tuition,” he added.
