Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has reportedly agreed to join Dutch giant Ajax in the transfer market this winter, after only six months playing in Saudi Arabia with the Al-Ettifaq club.
The surprising news about Jordan Henderson’s transfer was released by the famous transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, via his official X account, Thursday (18/1/2024).
The Italian journalist said Henderson would travel to Amsterdam on Thursday local time and would undergo medical tests the following day to complete his move to Ajax.
“Jordan Henderson to Ajax, here we go!” tweeted Romano in his characteristic style.
“The deal is complete now as the former Liverpool captain will travel to Amsterdam on Thursday. Medical tests to follow tomorrow. Top signings announced last week are now complete. Exclusive story, confirmed.”
The news of this agreement made the 33-year-old England national team midfielder end his contract with Al-Ettifaq early, which only lasted half a season of the initial three-season agreement.
Henderson joined Ajax in the January 2024 transfer window and was contracted for 2.5 years until June 2026.
“Another exclusive detail about the Jordan Henderson and Ajax story was revealed last week. “The contract is valid until June 2026, so the contract is two and a half years,” added Romano.
During his time in the Al Ettifaq uniform, Henderson appeared 19 times in all competitions with a record of five assists. From his notes, Henderson led the club coached by Steven Gerrard to eighth place in the Saudi Arabian League standings this season with 25 points.
