Chairman of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has advised Nigerian students to shun “forgery” and other corrupt practices. Mr Olukoyede, in a statement by the anti-graft agency, gave the advice during the inauguration of an Integrity Club at Arewa Schools, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, on Wednesday.

“Diversion of funds, embezzlement, stealing, forgery, bribery and others are examples of corrupt practices. Should we allow such practices in our country? Can the nation move forward if we allow such practices in our midst?,” Mr Olukoyede said, urging students to eschew them.

Mr Olukoyede, represented by the commission’s Deputy Director, Public Affairs Department, Nwanyinma Okeanu, listed forgery, internet fraud, embezzlement, stealing, bribery among cases of corrupt practices which have “over the years under-developed the progress and growth of the country.”

The anti-graft agency’s sensitisation against forgery and other corrupt practices comes amid lingering controversies on Mr Tinubu’s Chicago State University certificate.Though the Supreme Court rejected fresh evidence on Mr Tinubu’s certificate forgery scandal to affirm his electoral victory, the issues continue to elicit reactions from Nigerians.

In 2023, Mmesoma Ejikeme, a 19-year-old secondary school student, was exposed for forging her UTME result, inflating her score from 249 to 362. Upon investigation, she was banned by JAMB, the exam body, for three years.
