GeneHen Global Care Foundation Begins One Month Feeding Program In Public School In Enugu State

GeneHen Global Care Foundation, a non-governmental organisation in Enugu State that caters to the needs of indigent children in society, kicked off a one-month feeding programme at Independence Layout Nursery and Primary School, Enugu.
The foundation launched the feeding programme in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 4, to ensure that children from underprivileged backgrounds have access to a good education without hunger disrupting with their learning process.

Speaking at the launch of the programme, which was approved by the Enugu State Government, the co-founder of the foundation, Barr. Chidimma Genevieve Okwuowolu, thanked the Governor for his support of the initiative, as well as the Commissioners for Education and Children, Gender affairs and Social Development who were also in attendance at the event. She stated her foundation’s commitment to ensuring that indigent children are afforded the same privileges as every other child in society in the hopes of providing them with a solid and better future.
She spoke of her foundation’s ongoing activities, which included sponsoring children through school, providing school materials, including writing materials, school uniforms, and bags, among others, and also giving the children mentorship as well as skill acquisition lessons.
One of the memorable highlights of the event was a drama rendition by the students of the school, to promote awareness against child abuse, which left a lot of guests at the event deeply touched and emotional.
Delivering a thank you note on behalf of the school, the headmistress of school one, Mrs. Eze Evelyn Nkechi thanked the foundation for the initiative and the countless support it has provided the school and her students over the years, asking God to bless the founders and members of the foundation.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, the commissioner for Gender Affairs, commended the foundation for a very thoughtful initiative, saying it is a commendable venture for private individuals to take the initiative to help their fellow man and humanity and not wait for the government to do it all.

The event was concluded by guests unveiling and tasting the food, which was a package of jellof rice with meat, eggs and fruits, after which the food was shared to all the kids in the school.
