The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for bringing back the old National Anthem.
According to him, when the young generation sits down and reads it line by line and word by word, they will see why it is very important for Nigeria to revisit it.
He expressed his appreciation after President Tinubu approved the bill at the National Assembly on Wednesday, May 29.
He said: “I want to thank you for bringing back our national anthem, the one that we grew up with, I’m talking about those of us above 50.
“And for the young ones by the time you sit down, read it line by line, word by word, you will see why it is very important for Nigeria to revisit its former National Anthem.
“If we can follow it to its logical conclusion, Nigeria will be a much better nation.
“So, thank you, Your Excellency, for coming, we will be looking forward to being with you on June 12, to commemorate 25 years of democracy in Nigeria. Thank you sir, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
