A disturbing incident has come to light in Lagos, where a Nigerian Army officer allegedly attacked and harassed a civilian, Adewale Omo Olubo Mohammed, over a minor road dispute on June 6, 2024.

According to Mohammed’s account, the officer, who was driving a tinted car, refused to yield despite having a free road, leading to a brief horn-honking exchange. The situation escalated when the officer, joined by other soldiers, accused Mohammed of attempting to “torture” him in uniform.

Mohammed was detained, his phone seized, and his car towed to Ilupeju Police Station. The car was later released, but with significant damage, including a faulty brain box and missing items.

The victim reported the incident to the Provost’s office, only to be told that the senior officer had filed a false report, alleging Mohammed had attacked him.

This incident raises concerns about military-civilian relations and the conduct of some Nigerian Army personnel. The public is calling for a thorough investigation and appropriate action to ensure justice for Adewale Omo Olubo Mohammed.”
