Peter Mbah mourns late Sen Ayogu Eze

Enugu State governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has described the death of the former senator who represented Enugu North Senatorial District at the National Assembly between 2007 and 2015, Ayogu Eze, as an irreparable loss for the state.

The governor gave the remarks on Tuesday night during a Night of Tribute organised in honour of the late notable politician in Enugu, added that Senator Eze was “my colleague and brother”, even as he prayed God to accept his soul in his bosom.

The governor, who also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late senator, said the people of the state had taken solace in the selfless contributions made by the senator during his lifetime.

While stating that he has been devastated since the news about the passage of the senator was brought to his attention, Dr Mbah reminded the people gathered at the event that Senator Eze served as his colleague in the same government before being elected into the senate.

The governor who further said he was mourning a colleague, brother and friend, noted that Senator Eze was devoted to the public service coupled with his simplicity and respect for those who had encountered him regardless of their social status.

He said Senator Eze’s commitment to the common good and his pursuit of excellence can never be questioned, acknowledging that the late politician had touched so many lives before his sudden demise.

While praying God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss, the governor urged them, especially his wife, Mrs Nkechi Ayogu Eze, to be proud of their late father and husband, who according to him, fought a good fight.

The event attracted dignitaries from all walks of life including other top government functionaries, chieftains of the various political parties in the state, federal and state functionaries, captains of industry, heads of Ministry, Department and Agency, the traditional institution, business community, friends of the bereaved family and numerous well-wishers.
