Millwall FC’s goalkeeper, Matija Sarkic, has died at the age of 26 while on international duty with Montenegro. He reportedly fell ill at an apartment in Budva and passed away early Saturday morning.
Sarkic made 33 appearances for Millwall since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023 and proudly represented Montenegro on numerous occasions, earning eight caps for his country.
The football community is in shock, with tributes pouring in from former clubs and fans. Sarkic’s death is a tremendous loss for the sport, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
