Ekiti State Government Swiftly Addresses NYSC Camp Incident, Promises Modern Facilities

In a swift and proactive response to a worrying incident at the Ise/Emure NYSC camp, the Ekiti State Government has taken decisive action to address the issue and improve the living conditions for the corps members serving in the state.

Reports indicate that on Friday, a partial collapse of the camp’s ageing toilet facilities caught the unsuspecting corps members off guard, causing considerable distress.

Two corps members were affected by the incident but have since received immediate medical attention and are now responding positively to treatment.

Concerned by the plight of the affected corps members and the overall state of the camp’s infrastructure, Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji promptly issued a directive for the immediate construction of suitable new facilities at the NYSC camp.

“The welfare and comfort of our corps members are of paramount importance to this administration. We will spare no effort in ensuring that the Ise/Emure NYSC camp is equipped with modern facilities to support their activities and provide them with a befitting environment to serve our dear state,” stated Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Adesola Gold Adedayo.

In line with this commitment, the Governor has ordered the construction of 45 modern toilet and bathroom units, strategically placed across the camp to ensure easy access and optimal utilization by the corps members.
Addressing the corps members, the Special Adviser on Special Projects, Arch. Tope Ogunleye, reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to their well-being.

“In addition to the imminent construction work, we will also begin a comprehensive assessment of the camp’s infrastructure to identify other areas requiring urgent attention,” he said.

The delegation, led by the Commissioner including Arch. Ogunleye and other top government officials underscored the Ekiti State Government’s commitment to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and its impact on youth development in the state.

The swift intervention by the Ekiti State Government has been well received by the corps members and NYSC officials, with State Coordinator Alhaji. Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, expressing deep gratitude to the Governor and his team for their prompt response and unwavering commitment to the corps members’ welfare.

“This timely action by the Governor and his team demonstrates their understanding of the importance of the NYSC program and their dedication to creating an enabling environment for our corps members to thrive. We are confident that the reconstruction of these critical camp facilities will significantly enhance the overall experience of our corps members in Ekiti State.” Shuaibu said.

The construction of the new toilet and bathroom facilities is expected to be completed within a reasonable timeframe, ensuring that the NYSC camp in Ise/Emure Ekiti is equipped with the necessary modern infrastructure to support the activities of the National Youth Service Corps and its esteemed participants.
