The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has met with Vigilante Groups and other security outfits in Nnewi North at the Local Government Secretariat Headquarter as part of security advocacy and stakeholder engagement efforts.
Known as State Policing Model, the Police Community Policing Committee (PCPC) is aimed at integrating all security outfits for harmonized intelligence sharing in Anambra state.
CP Itam commended the Vigilante Groups and Security Outfits for their commitment, dedication, and selfless service in assisting the Police to prevent crime.
He urged the operatives to maintain unity and avoid being used against one another, especially in the communities they are meant to protect, pledging greater cooperation from officers and men of the Command.
A statement released by Police Spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga said the Police Commissioner also paid a courtesy visit to the 98 year-old traditional ruler of Nnewi, His Royal Highness, Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III, and other stakeholders in the area. The oldest monarch in the state has been on the throne for 60 years.
CP Itam expressed gratitude for their contributions to the Police and other security agencies in ensuring the safety of the State, particularly in Nnewi.
The event was attended by the Transitional Chairman of Nnewi North LGA, the President General of Nnewi, Prince Dr. Obi Orizu, members of the Nnewi Concerns Citizens Security Outfit, members of Ethel Security Services, members of the Nnewi North LGA Security Strike Force, members of the Nnewi Central Vigilante, and other security stakeholders.
The visit CP Itam is coming barely two weeks after a prominent son of the area, Senator (Dr) Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, died in London.###
