By a stroke of fate in 2011, he was sponsored to run for the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, where he quickly rose to become Speaker. The then-Governor saw potential in him and backed him as the APC governorship candidate. Today, he is the Governor.
Remarkably, he even sat for his Senior School Certificate Examination while serving in the Assembly.
His wife, who came from a well-off family and had an education, married him when he was just a poor bricklayer. If anyone had told her that the man she married would become a governor in just a few years, it might have been hard to believe.
