The Anambra State Government has denied a report by Punch Newspaper that it has not set up a committee to implement the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu, the government said that Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo had actually constituted a minimum wage committee on May 22, 2024, two months before President Bola Tinubu signed the new minimum wage into law.

The committee comprises representatives from the state government, labor unions, and local government councils.

Nwosu urged local correspondents and reporters to verify their information before publication to avoid embarrassing their organizations.

The statement was released on August 13, 2024, in response to the Punch Newspaper report published on August 11, 2024.
