Ex-Governors’ Bickering Leaves Ogun State and Nigeria in Debt and Shame

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun

Frame A: Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Governor of Ogun State (2003-2011). He was incumbent when Ogun State struck a FTZ development deal with Zhongshan in 2007.

Frame B: Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Governor, 2011-2019), the incumbent who abruptly, and senselessly terminated the contract in 2015 without a care for the legal implications of the senseless decision.

Two ex-governors of Ogun State have brought shame and debt upon the Ogun State people and Nigeria at large as 3 Presidential Aircrafts were seized in France to enforce payment of a ~$70m award against the FG.

All this calamity because of stupid bickering from two ex-Governors. Followed by the trademark thoughtless, irrational decisions that Ibikunle Amosun has now been known for.

Governor Dapo Abiodun and AGF met with Zhongshan in September 2023 to resolve this issue but the 3-day engagement ended in yet another deadlock.

The crazy thing is both of them are somewhere out there acting normal and enjoying (Senator and Retired Senator), while every Nigerian, including President Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun is out here suffering for their very stupid decisions made more than 8 years ago.

Both of them should be fined $35m each. The Ogun State people and Nigerian people at large cannot be made to pay for the result of their stupid, (now costly) bickering.
