Bayelsa State Government to Purchase N25 Billion Aircraft for Commercial Purposes

According to reports, the Bayelsa State government is about to purchase an Aircraft worth N25 billion

This news have caused a mixed reaction on Bayelsa social media, some saying it’s a waste of money while other say, the money would have been used to fix the Gas turbine in the State.

Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, the Director General, new media to Bayelsa State Governor, in a statement on facebook said the aircraft is purely for commercial purpose, that it’s an investment for the Bayelsa Airport, its not for jamboree.

He further said..

“The aircraft to be purchased are to ensure regular flights and full operation of the Bayelsa International Airport!”

The Managing Director of Bayelsa International Airport, AVM Nelson Calmday (retd.) said, its only one operator-The United Nigeria Airline, that makes two regular landings in Yenagoa weekly.

He said it will be a good idea for the State to have its own Air Airline to increase service delivery

The airport was officially commissioned for operation in 2020 and granted commercial flight operations approval by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in 2021
