Former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hereford Oseke, has tragically passed away.
Oseke, aged 64, collapsed during his regular exercise routine at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Monday.
He was promptly rushed to Apex Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
Born in August 1960, Oseke hailed from Umuawulu in Awka South Local Government Area. He was a law graduate and had recently completed his Ph.D. in Public Administration.
Beyond his academic achievements, Oseke was a prominent figure in the freight forwarding industry in Port Harcourt and was also active in the importation of fishing feeds.
Oseke’s political career was marked by his affiliation with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
During Peter Obi’s tenure as governor, Oseke contested and won a seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly, where he served as the Majority Leader before being elected Deputy Speaker.
In his bid to expand his political influence, Oseke contested for the Awka North and South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives but was defeated by the late Rt. Hon. Anayo Nnebe.
A devout Christian and a knight of St. Christopher, Harford Oseke is survived by his wife and children.
