SSS Detains Nigerian Journalist Adejuwon Soyinka

The State Security Service (SSS) has reportedly detained Adejuwon Soyinka, a Nigerian journalist and the West African Regional Editor for the Conversation Africa.

Mr. Soyinka, who is also a former Pioneer Editor of the BBC Pidgin Service, was taken into custody by SSS operatives at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, following his arrival from the United Kingdom on a Virgin Atlantic flight.

As of this report, the security agency has not provided any reason for his detention. His colleagues have expressed concern, noting that attempts to reach him by phone have been unsuccessful, with calls and messages going unanswered.
