Dr. Tunji Alausa, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, has announced that the Federal Government has approved a 50% electricity subsidy for public hospitals nationwide.
This move aims to reduce operating costs for these hospitals and ease the financial burden on patients.
Additionally, plans are underway to rebrand Federal Hospitals as Specialist Hospitals to broaden service delivery and reduce stigma.
The government is also working to ensure that only health and education-related institutions benefit from the subsidy, avoiding misuse by private businesses.
