Anambra Under Attack: Joint Security Force Launches Operation After Police Station Invasion

A joint security force comprising the Police, Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and other security agencies has launched a massive operation in Oba and its environs following a deadly attack on the Oba Police Divisional Headquarters and Oba Civic Center.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspected armed successionist group launched a sporadic shooting attack on the police station in the early hours of today, attempting to gain entrance. The group also threw petrol bombs at the security facility, causing some offices to catch fire, including the Oba Civic Center.

Tragically, a police corporal was fatally wounded in the attack and paid the ultimate price. However, the fire was quickly extinguished with the help of police officers on duty and the joint security response team.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has condemned the attack, describing it as an assault on the soul of the nation. He vowed to bring those behind the heinous act to justice.

The joint security force is currently combing the area, and the situation is under control. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
