The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has denounced the recent statements made by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, threatening to “put fire” in PDP-controlled states. The Forum, chaired by Governor Bala Abdulkarim Mohamed of Bauchi State, described Wike’s comments as “unbridled, irresponsible, and totally unacceptable.”
The PDP-GF emphasized its commitment to unity and peaceful coexistence within the party, stating that Wike’s threats undermine efforts to build and maintain peace, cohesion, and collaboration among leaders and members.
The Forum also reaffirmed its support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and its commitment to working with the National Working Committee (NWC) to ensure Fubara receives all privileges entitled to him as a PDP governor.
The PDP-GF called on the NWC to invoke official provisions and unofficial good offices platforms to find an amicable solution to the crisis in the Rivers State chapter. It also encouraged dialogue and reconciliation, emphasizing the importance of engaging with established mechanisms for addressing grievances and resolving conflicts.
Furthermore, the Forum urged national security apparatuses to take note of Wike’s threats, stating that no one is above the law.
