Anambra Police arrests gangster trafficking children to Ghana, Benin Republic

Anambra State Police Command has arrested a gang member who specialise in trafficking children between the ages of 13 to 16 years to neighbouring West African countries like Ghana and Benin Republic.

The arrest followed the concern of the Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam about reported cases of missing persons, especially within Okpoko and Onitsha axis for which the CP tasked his men to nip such in the bud.

To this end, the victim has been safely returned from Accra, Ghana to Anambra State, Nigeria and debriefed.

A statement released by Police Spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu said the suspect is also currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID) Awka for possible rescue of other victims and arrest of other gang members

This reporter who recently returned from Accra, Ghana, witnessed the spate of underage prostitution in that land, most of who are Nigerians of Igbo descent.
