No MoU Signed for Green Line Construction, Says Lagos Government

Lagos State Government

The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports making waves on the internet that Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed an MoU for the construction of the Green Line.

The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the State Governor, Jubril Gawat, debunked the reports via a post he shared on his X handle on Wednesday, September 4.

He disclosed that the MoU’s signed in China was for different projects, a roa
d project and an energy project.

Gawat wrote: “I know you guys Love OUR Lagos State and you know it is only Lagos State under Mr #jidesanwoolu that has the audacity to deliver 2 Rail Lines under his Administration.

“As we speak, the Phase 2 of the #LagosBlueLineRail work is ongoing and it will move from Mile 2 to Okoko, while the 2nd Phase of the Red Line (Oyingbo to National Theatre) has been signed, this will link #LagosRedLineRail to the #BlueLine Rail (meaning: people can move from the mainland, stop at National Theatre and join Blue Line to the island).

“So, For Now, GREEN LINE has not been signed yet. Keep Calm. What was signed in China was a different project; A road project and an energy project.”
