The Anambra State Police Command has ordered the detention of members of a police patrol team over the murder of an unsuspecting member of the public along Owerri Road, Onitsha.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, preliminary investigations have identified a police corporal as the suspect in the act.
The Commissioner of Police, CP ITAM, has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, and has assured that the Command will ensure a thorough investigation into the case to ensure justice prevails.
The incident has sparked outrage, and the police have sued for calm, promising to keep the public updated on further developments in the case.
