…as council pledges to deliver on mandate

Ahead of the September 21, 2024 local government elections in Enugu State, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nkanu East local government area, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, announced on Sunday in Enugu the appointments of Hon. Okechukwu Mbah and ten others into the party’s campaign council as principal officers.

Hon Mbah, who was appointed as the campaign Director General, said the campaign council under his supervision would not only deliver on its mandate, it would ensure the party won with a slide margin.

While inaugurating the council, Hon Edeh stressed that the choice of Mbah and others was based on their track records in reaching out and mobilising support for the party.

He charged the council to ensure that members of the public, including party faithful, were carried along in the campaign.

The chairmanship candidate further appealed to the people of the area to come out in their numbers and vote the PDP for chairman and councillors on 21 of September.

Maintaining that his scorecard spoke for itself in the council area, Edeh pointed at some of the life-changing projects his administration executed in his first term, promising more projects that would engender development and improve standards of living.

“When we did our first term, our people were able to see how we imparted in their lives positively through the projects we were able to execute across the 14 electoral wards in the local government area.

“We are not unmindful of our responsibilities to our people as a government of the grassroots which should be closer to them. We have continued to maintain open door policy, welcome ideas, and govern with respect for the rule of law. Hopefully, we will continue with our good governance trajectory that will bring succour to the various communities in our local government if re-elected,” the former chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) added.

Speaking further on how the local government would align with the state’s development agenda, Edeh appreciated the governor, Dr Peter Mbah, for the good work his administration was doing in the areas of education, security, health, infrastructure, investment, agriculture and job creation.

He said the council under him would work closely with the state government for integrated development to eradicate poverty and sustain security and food sufficiency.

Reacting to their appointments, Hon Mbah, a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly representing the Nkanu East constituency, pledged to carry party members along, calling on the people to come out en masse and vote for all the candidates of the PDP.

“We have done it before, and by the grace of God, we will do it again. This campaign has been made essentially easy for us to win because of the track record of Hon Sydney Edeh, and the infrastructural rebirth we are all witnessing under our principal, His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah. With what is on ground now, the good people of Enugu State have already embraced the PDP, and rejected other parties which have nothing meaningful to contribute to the development of the state,” Mbah said.

Among the campaign council members are, Prince Onuoha Ifeanyi who serves as the Deputy Director General, Ifeanyi Egbo, Secretary, Hon Cornelius Edeh, Chairman, Contact and Mobilisation, Hon Ngozi Enih, Chairperson, Women Wing, Rt. Hon Paul Nnajiofor, Coordinator, Media and Publicity, Hon Nnamdi Nwafor, Chairman, Finance Mobilisation, Comrade Ebuka Okoh, Head, Youth Wing, Engr Ifebuche Igwe, Chairman, Works and Venue, Hon Patrick Okoh, Chairman, Security Affairs, and Hon Chinwe Mbah, Coordinator, Welfare.
