The internal conflict within the Labour Party took a new turn yesterday as Akin Osuntokun, former Director-General of the dissolved Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, alleged that the convention that elected Julius Abure as party chairman was flawed.
Osuntokun praised Peter Obi’s leadership, stating that he transformed the Labour Party from a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to a full-fledged political party. This move, according to Osuntokun, prevented the party’s degeneration.
“The convention that saw Abure emerge as party chairman is flawed,” Osuntokun said. “It would have been irresponsible for Peter Obi and Alex Otti to fold their arms and allow the party to degenerate.”
This development adds to the ongoing leadership disputes within the Labour Party since the 2023 general elections.
