Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has donated N50 million to aid the victims of the devastating floods in Borno State.
This donation was made during his visit to Maiduguri, where he was accompanied by key figures from his party, including his running mate Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, and other party leaders.
The visit and donation were part of a condolence mission to the state following the catastrophic flooding which affected over 70% of Maiduguri, displacing a significant number of residents.
During this visit, Obi not only met with local leaders including Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno but also visited affected areas like the Bank of the North spare parts market and an IDP camp, showcasing the direct impact of the floods on the community.
Obi’s actions were aimed at providing immediate relief and demonstrating solidarity with the flood victims. He emphasized the Labour Party’s commitment to supporting those affected, promising continued aid and resources to help in rebuilding and recovery efforts.
This initiative reflects a broader call Obi made earlier for governmental and public support for the flood victims, highlighting the need for unity and assistance in this time of crisis.
