The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded 98.56% of the results on the IREV portal, with the PDP currently leading by approximately 29,000 votes. However, there is growing concern regarding the remaining less than 2% of results that are yet to be uploaded.
The process of uploading results is supposed to occur directly from the unit level, immediately after the votes are counted at each polling unit. This ensures transparency and adherence to the law. Therefore, the critical question remains: why has this less than 2% not been uploaded yet? Does this imply that voting is still ongoing in these areas?
It’s crucial to stress that, by law, any result that is not uploaded directly from the unit level should be considered unacceptable. The integrity of the electoral process relies on prompt and transparent reporting of results from all units. The world must be vigilant in ensuring that the law is upheld and that no results are tampered with or manipulated in this critical window before the complete upload.
