Anambra State Government Imposes Movement Restriction for Local Government Elections

The Anambra State government has announced a movement restriction across the state on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to a press release signed by Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, PhD, the restriction is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and seamless conduct of the Anambra State Local Government Council Election.

Exemptions have been granted to individuals on election duties, essential service providers, and emergency responders, including:

  • INEC officials
  • Electoral observers
  • Accredited journalists
  • Ambulances responding to medical emergencies
  • Firefighters

The public is advised to fully comply with the restriction order to avoid legal consequences.

“The cooperation of all Ndi Anambra is solicited to ensure a successful and hitch-free election,” Mefor stated.
