Enugu State Government Announces Monthly Cleanup Exercise

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced that the monthly clean-up exercise will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

According to a statement signed by Andreas Gebauer, Special Assistant to the Governor on Water and Waste, the exercise aims to maintain a clean and healthy environment for residents.

During the exercise, movement of people and vehicles will be restricted, except for essential service providers who must show valid identification or an ESWAMA official pass. Additionally, all early morning sporting activities, loading and off-loading of passengers in motor parks, and other commercial activities will be suspended.

The authority urges residents to properly bag their waste before disposal and pay their ESWAMA bills at any nearby commercial bank. This, according to ESWAMA, will ensure a successful clean-up exercise and maintain a clean environment.

Offenders will face arrest and prosecution at the environmental mobile court of law.

The authority’s objective is to create a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents. By participating in this exercise, Enugu State residents can contribute to achieving this goal.

Enugu State residents are encouraged to cooperate with ESWAMA officials and adhere to the guidelines to ensure a successful clean-up exercise.
