The Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Martin Amaewhule, has announced that the seats of Edison Ehie, who serves as the Chief of Staff to Governor Fubara, along with three other lawmakers loyal to Fubara, are now deemed vacant.
During today’s plenary session, Speaker Martin Amaewhule announced that Ehie had failed to formally notify the house regarding his new position. Consequently, his seat has been declared vacant.
Concerning Victor Oko-Jumbo and two others, the House conducted three distinct votes to declare their seats vacant due to their continuous absence from sessions for 152 days without prior notification or permission, which violates the 1999 Constitution.
