Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has boasted to his allies about facilitating the return of Adegboyega Fasasi as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Tinubu. Following Fasasi’s brief removal, which was announced by the Department of State Services (DSS), Wike reportedly intervened directly with the President, urging for Fasasi’s reinstatement.
Sources indicate that President Tinubu acquiesced to Wike’s request, resulting in Fasasi’s swift return to his position. Wike’s actions have led him to assert that he wields considerable influence within the current administration, claiming that his power now surpasses that experienced during his tenure as Coordinating Minister for Education under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Wike has assured those he recommended for appointments in Tinubu’s government that they need not fear removal, suggesting they will remain in their positions for the duration of the President’s term. Additionally, he has signaled that there are currently no openings for new appointments, urging potential candidates to bide their time.
