NANS threatens to protest on campuses across South West over disbandment of SUGs

The National Association of Nigerian Students has threatened to mobilize protests to disrupt academic activities on campuses across the Southwest if Students Union Governments are not reinstated in certain institutions in the region within the next two weeks.

The Institutions are the University of Lagos, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Federal Polytechnic, Ede and the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

Coordinator of NANs in the southwest, Taiwo Owolewa said the ultimatum is coming to give notice to the management of the institutions before embarking on the protest

Taiwo Owolewa said lack of functional Students Union Governments would undermine students rights and limit their ability to voice and safeguard their interests.

‘If this demand is not met, NAN will mobilize a massive protest to disrupt academic activities and bring the issue to national attention’

The students leadership also complained about the increase in tuition fees and the need to enable students of Private Institutions benefit from NELFUND.

While commending the federal Government for the provision CNG buses to enhance affordable and sustainable transportation, the students leaders promised to prioritize the welfare of students in the zone
