Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is set to preside over an elaborate handover ceremony to transfer custody of malnourished minors detained over #EndBadGovernance protests to their respective state governors from the northern region.
This move comes three months after the children were taken into custody under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
It was exclusively reported that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), had completed the necessary paperwork to release all those detained over #EndBadGovernance protests, including minors charged with treason and facing the death penalty.
Earlier on Monday, President Bola Tinubu ordered the release of the underage children arraigned before an Abuja Federal High Court on Friday, November 1, following national and international outrage and condemnation.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced the development to State House correspondents during an emergency briefing at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
“The Vice President is to receive them after they leave court tomorrow (Tuesday) and hand each everyone of them back to their state governors from the north at an ‘elaborate’ ceremony,” a source in the Presidency
