On November 5, 2024, a driver of a Volkswagen T4 commercial bus vi*lently resisted arrest by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in the Cele area, attempting to escape by setting his vehicle and LASTMA officers on fire.
The confrontation occurred when officials intercepted the bus for traffic violations. In the ensuing chaos, the driver and his conductor doused LASTMA personnel with petrol and physically ass*ulted them.
One officer suffered severe b*rns and was rushed to a hospital for urgent care.
