Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Governor of Anambra State, has been honoured with two prestigious awards by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, during its 2024 Press Week celebrations. Dr. Soludo received the “Most Supportive Governor’s Wife in South East Nigeria” award and the “Voice for the Voiceless in South East” award in recognition of her tireless efforts in supporting social causes and advocating for marginalized groups.
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Soludo expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging that such honours fuel her commitment to advocating for the vulnerable in society. She emphasized that these accolades, while deeply appreciated, serve as a reminder of the continued responsibility to do more in her quest for social justice and empowerment.
“For every laurel that comes our way in this passionate quest, we keep in mind that our modest efforts are not only seen and appreciated, but, most importantly, expected to do more,” Dr. Soludo remarked. “This huge honour occupies a very important place in my heart, and I thank members of the Fourth Estate for seeing us as we are and recognizing our little runs. God bless you all.”
The awards reflect Dr. Soludo’s active role in championing the rights of women and children, her dedication to supporting the development of Anambra State, and her ongoing advocacy for the voiceless in the South East region.
