Nigeria has commended Ghana for rebuilding demolished property belonging to the Nigerian High Commission in Accra.
The building, which was torn down by Ghanaian authorities in June 2020, has been reconstructed and officially handed back to Nigeria.
Ghana’s Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Shirley Botchway, handed over the keys to the Director of the Foreign Service Academy in Lagos, Ambassador Chimezie Ogu, who represented Nigeria at the ceremony.
Recall that the 2020 incident saw the demolition of a block of four-bedroom flats at the Nigerian Commission compound in Accra, leading to outbursts from Nigerians.
Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo apologized to Nigeria for ordering an investigation into the incident and promised to rebuild the property.
