In a bold political forecast, analysts have warned that the 2027 Presidential elections in Nigeria will hinge on strong alliances between the North and South, emphasizing the crucial role of numbers and strategy in determining the outcome. The analysis suggests that any political party fielding Peter Obi as its Presidential candidate without a robust Northern alliance is unlikely to succeed in the polls.
The commentary further asserts that the South East alone lacks the numerical strength to produce a viable Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate without Northern collaboration. Conversely, the North, with its significant voter base, can independently produce a Presidential candidate and form alliances with any Southern counterpart to secure victory.
“Politics is a numbers game. Emotional decision-making in forming alliances will only lead to failure,” the analyst remarked, urging political players to prioritize realistic calculations over sentiments.
Reflecting on the 2023 elections, the analysis highlighted the challenges of unseating an incumbent President. “If Bola Tinubu was unbeatable without Presidential powers in 2023, it will be nearly impossible to defeat him in 2027 with all the powers and resources at his disposal,” the expert noted.
The analysis also speculates on the political futures of Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, suggesting that a failure to unite and strategize effectively for 2027 could spell the end of their political relevance. “If they cannot get it right in 2027, both men will be retired from politics forever, marking the demise of the Obidient movement,” the commentary added.
