French football star Kylian Mbappé has disclosed that it was national team coach Didier Deschamps who decided against calling him up for France’s international matches in November. Speaking during an interview with Clique TV on Canal Plus, the PSG forward clarified his position on the surprising omission.
“France for me is the most important thing,” Mbappé affirmed, explaining that he requested to rest in September due to not being at 100%. However, regarding November, he stated: “It was his [Deschamps’] decision. I wanted to play for France in November, but that was the coach’s choice not to call me up.”
Mbappé stopped short of providing details, saying, “I can’t tell you why. I’m sorry. If he Deschamps wants to say it, he can. But I’m not allowed.”.
