The recent appointments of Her Excellency Iyom Bianca Ojukwu and Hon. Mark Okoye into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet have stirred political controversy, particularly regarding the role of Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, in the process.
Reacting to the claims, Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, dismissed criticisms from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, describing them as baseless and a distraction.
Obigwe noted that Governor Soludo, as the National Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), enjoys a strong working relationship with President Tinubu and likely played a significant role in securing the appointments. However, he emphasized that Soludo is not one to boast about such contributions.
“Governor Soludo is a leader focused on issues that benefit Anambra people. His priority is development, not engaging in unnecessary political drama,” Obigwe said.
He further argued that the appointments of Bianca Ojukwu and Mark Okoye, both APGA members, reflect President Tinubu’s readiness to forge a political alliance with APGA. He added that the move aligns with Tinubu’s promise to work with Soludo, a pledge made during the 2023 presidential campaign at Ekwueme Square.
Obigwe also dismissed the criticisms by some APC members in Anambra State, labeling them as “inconsequential political actors” who have little to offer President Tinubu’s administration. He asserted that Soludo’s influence and contributions to the renewed hope agenda are undeniable and valuable to the President.
Describing the critics as rabble-rousers, Obigwe stated, “Chidi Okoye and others like him cannot undo the achievements and influence of Governor Soludo. Their actions are as futile as pouring water on a stone.”
Obigwe concluded by expressing confidence in Soludo’s leadership and predicting a landslide victory for the governor in the 2025 Anambra governorship election.
