IGP Visits Kwara Over Jimoh Abdulqaudri’s Death, Orders Swift Investigation

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over the investigation into the tragic death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri, who died while in police custody in Kwara State on December 20, 2024.

In a bid to ensure transparency and accountability, the IGP visited Kwara State on Sunday, December 22, 2024, where he met with the family of the deceased. During the meeting, held at the residence of the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, Alhaji Sadiq Atiku Fulani, who represented the family, the IGP extended his condolences and promised a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident.

The IGP emphasized that the FCID would handle the case with the utmost professionalism and ensure an impartial and conclusive investigation. He reassured the family and the public that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to justice, accountability, and respect for human rights.

Speaking on the Force’s zero-tolerance policy for unprofessional conduct, the IGP urged all stakeholders to remain calm and allow due process to take its course.

The visit highlights the IGP’s resolve to address public concerns over police misconduct and ensure justice is served in this matter.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the developments in a statement released on Sunday.
