In a series of explosive revelations, renowned investigative journalist David Hundeyin has accused PIDOM Nigeria, a self-proclaimed whistleblower and investigative journalist, of being compromised and “bought by the government.” Hundeyin’s allegations, made public through a detailed statement, shed light on what he describes as a “contrived gimmick” and a betrayal of public trust.
According to Hundeyin, the individual behind the PIDOM persona, who was arrested and detained earlier this year, is now allegedly cooperating with government authorities in exchange for freedom. Hundeyin claims that the once-outspoken whistleblower has become “100% owned and controlled” by those behind his arrest in August.
Key Allegations Made by Hundeyin
- Entrapment Scheme from Prison
Hundeyin revealed that while the accused was in detention at Kuje Prison, he attempted to entrap him into an illegal scheme. Hundeyin claims to have recorded a 54-minute call, a six-minute segment of which has been shared publicly as evidence. Another prominent individual who was part of the call has reportedly corroborated the account. - Suspicious Phone Number Linked to Government Official
Hundeyin alleged that the phone number used by the accused during his time in prison is registered to one Hassan Jibrin, a purported Director at the Federal Ministry of Defense. This revelation raises questions about how someone in government custody gained access to a phone and why it was used to contact and allegedly entrap others. - Derogatory Remarks About Legal Representation
Hundeyin also accused the whistleblower of disparaging his pro bono lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, while in detention. Despite calling Adeyanju a “baby lawyer” and undermining his capabilities, the same lawyer secured his bail, prompting what Hundeyin describes as a “dramatic courtroom hug for the cameras.” - Fabricated Persona for Financial Gain
Hundeyin further alleged that the entire “PIDOM Nigeria” persona was a ploy to extract donations from the public under the guise of investigative journalism. He described the accused as a “random Port Harcourt abobi” who mimicked Hundeyin’s crowdfunding model for personal financial gain.
“A Prisoner Forever”
Hundeyin concluded his revelations by asserting that, while the accused may be out of prison, he remains under significant government control, unable to leave Abuja or operate freely. He characterized the whistleblower’s downfall as the result of greed and hubris, adding that the individual’s mistakes, including the use of personal bank details and repeated withdrawals from the same location, made him an easy target for authorities.
