Rev. Fr. Ebube Muonso Accused of Politicizing Insecurity in Anambra

The National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, has criticized Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso, for allegedly politicizing insecurity in Anambra State. Obigwe accused the cleric of being a mouthpiece for disgruntled opposition elements in the state, stating that his recent comments about the current administration’s handling of insecurity were false and politically motivated.

In a public statement, Obigwe condemned Rev. Fr. Obimma for claiming that Anambra State has witnessed unprecedented killings under the administration of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. He described the assertion as misleading and recalled instances of insecurity under past administrations, including high-profile killings and kidnappings for ransom during the tenure of former Governor Peter Obi.

Obigwe pointed to past tragedies, such as the murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili, the Ezzu River incident involving 46 floating corpses, and the Ozubulu church massacre, as evidence that insecurity has long been a challenge in the state. He emphasized that insecurity is not unique to the current regime and criticized the cleric for failing to acknowledge the efforts of Governor Soludo’s administration in addressing the issue.

“Politicizing insecurity only emboldens the criminals who perpetuate these heinous acts,” Obigwe stated, urging residents of Anambra State to unite in supporting the government’s efforts to combat crime. He described Governor Soludo’s administration as committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property, noting that significant progress has been made in tackling insecurity.

Obigwe further accused Rev. Fr. Obimma of pursuing a selfish political agenda, alleging that the priest is working in favor of opposition elements aiming to unseat Governor Soludo in the upcoming 2025 election. He dismissed such efforts as futile and expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to secure a second term.

“The fight against insecurity is a task for all responsible citizens,” Obigwe added, calling on the people of Anambra to support the governor and security agencies in rooting out criminal elements. He expressed optimism that Governor Soludo’s leadership would continue to address the challenges facing the state effectively.

Obigwe concluded by warning against using insecurity as a campaign tool, describing it as an act of sabotage against the state government’s ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Anambra.

    By Erikigwe Gabriel Ikenna (G.I)

Our attention has been drawn to a false, misleading and politically motivated publication authored by one Chinedu Obigwe writing as the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum accusing Rev. Fr. Ebube Muonso of politicizing insecurity in Anambra State.

We would have ignored his tantrums but for the interest of the public and those who may be misled by his tantrums, we state unequivocally that the present administration of Soludo has failed woefully in the area of security which is the primary function of a state. A government that fails in areas of security is deemed a failure and should resign.

Since the inception of this administration, people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed because criminals are breathing down their neck despite the conspicuous presence of constituted authorities, then something is clearly wrong.

A whole Anambra State, “the light of the Nation” has been under insecurity siege and one Obigwe will be here defending a government that can not fight for the security of it’s people. People are lynched, maimed, kidnapped, butchered and killed in broad daylight. While the media reports some of these gory incidents, many go unreported. Insecurity now acquired a new, devastating edge in Anambra State whose people have fought heroically to acquire a measure of stability over the years yet the government has failed to fight against it.

The popular Priest, Rev. Fr. Ebube Muonso as a priest of God, can never fold hands while Anambrarians are kidnapped, and butchered on daily basis. No no nooo! Even the recent abduction of Rev. Fr.Nonso, his brother priest, the government could not even do anything. Nobody knows who it may be tomorrow, it is high time Anambrarians rose up and say enough is enough. If Soludo can not fight insecurity, let him resign honourably.

Rev. Fr. Ebube Muonso’s message and call for Anambrarians to fight against insecurity is a welcome development and not politically motivated as wrongly misconceived by one Chinedu Obigwe.

Instead of Obigwe to advise his principal to take the issue of security of Anambra State serious, he is here writing rubbish, an indication that his master has no plans for security. Obigwe should hide his face in shame if he has any vestige of decency left in his egregiously battered reputation for working and defending government that can not fight for the security of his state.
