A passionate call has been made for Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muo Nso, to resign from his position as a priest of the Onitsha Catholic Diocese and fully dedicate himself to politics. The call, made by Evang Chinedu Obigwe, National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, asserts that Fr. Obimma has been mixing his religious duties with political ambitions, undermining the sanctity of his priesthood.
Obigwe criticized the priest for using his platform at the altar to further his political interests, citing Fr. Obimma’s involvement in the 2021 Anambra governorship election. During the election, Fr. Obimma supported the candidacy of Andy Uba, with hopes of leveraging federal power to influence the outcome. However, the unexpected victory of Governor Charles Soludo dealt a blow to these political aspirations, leaving Fr. Obimma and his allies disillusioned.
Further highlighting the controversy, Obigwe accused Fr. Obimma of lobbying for his brother, Charles Obimma, to secure the APGA House of Assembly ticket for the 2023 election. When this effort failed, Charles defected to the YPP, though he ultimately lost the election.
Obigwe emphasized that if Fr. Obimma is intent on pursuing politics, he should resign from his priestly duties and commit himself entirely to the political arena. According to Obigwe, continuing to serve as a priest while engaging in political schemes is an act of self-deception.
In contrast, Obigwe lauded the achievements of Governor Soludo, calling his administration the best in Anambra’s history. He praised Soludo’s efforts in tackling insecurity, infrastructure development, and improving the state’s economy. Obigwe urged the people of Anambra to continue supporting the governor and security agencies to ensure the state’s safety and prosperity.
Obigwe concluded by thanking Governor Soludo for his good work, and expressed gratitude for the positive feedback from Anambra citizens who have witnessed the improvements under the current administration.
